One of the features of PDF2XL Enterprise is the ability to scan your hard copy documents directly into the application, allowing you to bypass the steps needed to turn the scanned document into a PDF.

  1. Turn on your scanner and place your document inside.

  2. Open PDF2XL, click the Start menu and select Acquire. This will open a list of scanners and similar devices connected to your computer, so you can select the one you're using.

The scanning itself will be done by the scanning device's software, so it should look and work just like it does when you scan documents into any other program.

Duplex/Simplex Scanning

Most scanners can only scan a single side of a page at once, but if you have a duplex scanner that can scan both sides at the same time, this setting can be used in PDF2XL.
Select your scanner using the "Acquire" option:

Then select the "Duplex" scan option from the scanner settings (the image below is a sample - options will vary from one scanner to another).

If you are certain you have a duplex scanner, but the option isn't available when acquiring to PDF2XL, check to ensure you have the correct drivers installed.

*Note that our support team cannot troubleshoot your scanner settings.

By default, PDF2XL Enterprise attempts to use WIA technology to connect to the scanner. However, some scanners might only be able to work using the older TWAIN technology, in which case PDF2XL Enterprise will be unable to detect them.

If you find that PDF2XL Enterprise fails to detect your scanner, you might be able to fix it by going to Convert Tab > Settings > General then check the Use TWAIN drivers option.
